Mr. Edmund Temple is a certified technical service provider (TSP) for the USDA  and graduate of North Carolina State University, where he earned both a B.S. and M.S. in  Wildlife Biology.  He has over thirteen years of experience working with  private and public landowners designing and implementing conservation projects.  Before co-founding Woods, Water & Wildlife, Inc., Mr. Temple worked for Ducks Unlimited, Inc. (DU), developing the Chesapeake Bay Initiative and opening the Mid-Atlantic Field Office in Stevensville, MD.   As Conservation Program Manager, Mr. Temple was responsible for developing conservation programs, implementing conservation projects, and pursuing land protection strategies in the states of Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. During his six year tenure, over 16,000 acres of wetlands and associated habitats, and over 1,200 miles of  riparian habitat were restored through DU’s conservation efforts within the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

Prior to joining DU, Mr. Temple worked as a Private Lands Biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife at the Virginia Field Office in White Marsh, VA. His responsibilities included  providing technical assistance to landowners, coordinating restoration activities with conservation partners, and designing and constructing wetland, riparian, and grassland restoration projects under Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program.  Additionally, he provided technical assistance to the USDA for projects under the Wetlands Reserve Program (WRP), Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), and on-site wetland determinations under the 1990 Food Security Act (Farm Bill).

Previous employment also includes Research Biologist for N.C. Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit at N.C. State University, Forester for Chapman Lumber Company, and Wildlife Technician for the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.

 

Mr. Ashby Brown, is a Society of American Foresters Certified Forester and North Carolina Registered Forester and graduate of West Virginia University where he earned both a B.S. and M.S. in Forestry. He has worked as both an industrial and private forester, managing landowner assets and developing long range plans for those assets.  Specific expertise is in the areas of forest management, development and implementation of forest management plans including financial analysis, timber species manipulation, site selection, site restoration, site preparation, and resource utilization.  Other areas of experience include budget development and finance analysis and management, personnel management and contract negotiation.

In addition to other companies, Mr. Brown spent ten years with Union Camp Corporation in Franklin, Virginia.  During his tenure, the positions he held gave him a variety of valuable experience.  Typical projects he worked on while there  included all phases of silvicultural activities ranging from site preparation and tree planting to intermediate cultural activities such as herbicide and fertilizer application and final harvest of timber products.  Ancillary activities included budget development and management, growth and yield modeling, financial analysis, contract negotiation, and project and personnel supervision. Mr. Brown’s field experience includes over eight thousand acres cruised and mapped. 

Mr. Brown also has considerable experience in timber harvest planning and harvest operations. Harvesting operations involved both intermediate cuts for timber stand improvement and clearcuts for stand regeneration.  Along with that came a great  deal of experience in woods road layout and construction, pre-harvest planning for environmental quality control, and supervision of all these activities.
